  • CLINTS SENT US A 1/1 UNDISCOVERED OASIS SNEAKER

A closeup look of the upcoming "Oasis" Sneaker by Clints. To even be considered for a personal 1/1 UNDISCOVERED pair makes me beyond grateful. I've been wearing the shoe all week. The quality is what mainly stood out to me as the shoe has a very sturdy build to it, similar to an actual boot. The detail and different elements of the shoe is another eye catcher. There's so many parts to look at and digest making you really appreciate the shoe and the craft that went into it. In case you’re wondering, this is what a shoe that needed 14 months in development, over 350 facetimes and over 10 factory visits looks like. Junior expressed how the third generation model follows an “innovative design approach” drawing inspiration from “organic architecture” combining “a formless design structure, focusing on both comfort and functionality” The Oasis sneaker by Clints is scheduled to drop tomorrow. Again thank you Clints for this beauty!

  • THIS BRAND IS INSPIRED BY ROADKILL

How this artist wants to connect us back to nature through her roadkill inspired pieces. Av Grannan has repeatedly garnered attention for her hyper realistic products. Through their brand, Sublime Remains, the Chicago based interdisciplinary artist artist creates custom bags, garments, and accessories which all started from her art degree. Narratives are built and sewn together through her pieces as she picks apart and combines different materials - mainly up-cycled leather, canvas, fabrics, and natural fibres - that she gathers from couches on the side of the road, old army wear and more. Below are a few key parts from her artist's statement. "I have created a hyper-reality with roadkill. As a society, we are more disconnected from nature than ever. In place of our intrinsic need to connect to nature, we are becoming more dependent on distortions of reality, like virtual games and the unreal existence of Disneyland. Fantasies have come to constitute reality. With this collection, I am presenting a fake symbiotic relationship between perished animals and humans. This new relationship connects individuals back to the sublime of nature and the environment. Similar to roadkill, I find leather couches on the street that are set to be thrown away. I harvest the leather, and like taxidermy, I adorn the skin to come alive again. I paint insects on the leather, embellished with gems and handmade glass pieces to represent the objects that lay with them on the side of the road. While trying to visualize my hyper-reality, I researched Rogue Taxidermy. Instead of killing animals, they used animals that died naturally, roadkill, and discarded livestock. I looked at roadkill and sketched. I was reanimating nature in my mind to build characters for my collection. I rendered my illustrations and added three-dimensional qualities to transform them into a new avatar." Find out more about the brand, via the pages.

  • DID RICH PEOPLE RUIN STREETWEAR?

Did Rich people ruin Streetwear? So this is a tweet from last year that I came back across in my bookmarks after wanting to spark discussion around it. While it lacks heavy context and discussion on Twitter, I was intrigued by what you guys thought. The only discussion around this was the idea that prices of clothes have jumped sharply. I wouldn't necessarily say it's because of inflation but more because of how much streetwear has grown and the hype around it. In a sense, people saw the demand and opportunity from consumers and capitalised on it to maximise gains. Alternatively, you have the trope of streetwear communities from brands becoming alienated when the “wrong people” start buying into the brand and you can tell they're wearing the brand for hype's sake and to be seen in the brand as opposed to having a true connection to the brand the reasons people like that same brand. “Rich people” are often on the other end of the discourse when people complain about this issue. Anyways, those are MY guesses around the topic, but what do YOU think? Did rich people ruin streetwear? If not, who else did? Discuss below.

  • NL25H RUNS ON A 25 HOUR CLOCK

Discovering NL25H When Daoud and Danial embarked on their creative journey - due to the normal working hours of everyday life the only time they ever had available to pursue anything creative would be the late hours of the night once the normal workday had been completed. “We’d often refer to these late night sessions as the ‘Night Lab’. In a world where we balance life within those 24 hours - we felt as though these late night sessions gave us a feeling of something extra, an extended time almost as if where the world got 24 we got 25, hence birthing NL25h, Night Lab the 25th Hour.” "The garments and silhouettes are tied heavily into retro futurism as a depiction of the future from the past of what the world would look like present day. We’re essentially creating uniforms for a world that was imagined by the people before us and keeping that imagination alive today." The use of panelling an the way the brand integrates that with different patterns, colours and textures allows them to stand apart from the competition creating truly unique pieces. The colour palette is kept simple and muted, the textures vary from your general cotton all the way to sherpa, nylon and more and as explained previously the patterns and designs boast a futuristic personality to them. Having secured a collab with Pacsun, caught the eyes of NBA star James Harden, and selling out their drops quickly, its not difficult to see how much those daily 25 hours paid off. NL25h is a force to be reckoned with.
