WHY DOES EVERYTHING LOOK SO SIMILAR?

I got DMed this question by someone in the community which I thought was an interesting topic. obviously this is something that’s been a common point raised so let’s talk about it.

I think he’s spot on with the globalisation point, specifically on a digital front. social media and the internet in general has allowed for people to gain information and access to so much stuff, anyone can start something up in a matter of days.

There’s also a ton of references and people already doing what others want to do and seeing them succeed is gonna subconsciously set that as a blueprint as to what works. and you can’t really blame them, if it’s not broken , don’t fix it. there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. then on a psychological level, people just want to fit in and be accepted, the other route of difference is a lot of friction and risk people aren’t prepared to go through especially if there’s no guarantee of “acceptance”.

I think this is only going to magnify but i think it’s a good thing because now more than ever, it’s gonna make it easier for you to stand out. if you’re bold enough to go your own way, this is only a win. time will do its thing and the ones with the most solid foundations will stay. natural selection.

let’s build more solid moodboards, reference stacks and identities because that’s part of the formula to avoid this whole issue and find your unique edge.

p.s i’m rooting for you
