THE STORY BEHIND THIS PIÈCES UNIQUES LOOKBOOK GOES DEEP

PIÈCES UNIQUES is proud to present its Fall-Winter 2025 collection, COUP D’ÉTAT, a bold narrative envisioned by Creative Director Edmond LUU. The collection draws deeply from a personal conversation between LUU and his Vietnamese grandfather, reflecting on the Vietnam War and the resilience of civilians striving to protect their homeland. This poignant family history becomes the foundation for a story of rebellion and the fight for a brighter future.

COUP D’ÉTAT delivers a powerful statement, addressing contemporary challenges through the lens of past struggles. The collection incorporates motifs of uprising and freedom, prominently featuring the phrase MONDE LIBRE (Free World). Displayed in both distressed prints and intricate hand-embroidered details, this message operates on dual levels: as an aspiration for universal freedom and a critique of those who claim to embody it.

Stars—referencing Edmond’s Vietnamese heritage—appear throughout the collection, in prints, embroidery, and as striking embellishments on the backs of fur coats. Additionally, subversive elements, such as reimagined logos of global institutions, weave in subtle commentary.

They also landed an Adidas collab with essence of the Superstar, making the star the centerpiece of its design elevating the Superstar to Ultrastar. The star-shaped eyelets are not just aesthetic details but elements that embody the spirit of transformation and personalisation. Reflecting PIèces Uniques’ commitment to refined silhouettes and allows everyone to interact with the shoe to create a truly unique pair. This collaboration breathes new life into the icon, seamlessly merging Adidas’ legacy with the aesthetic of Pièces Uniques.

Striking a balance between dark and light, hard and soft, COUP D’ÉTAT captures the contrasts of a world in flux. It is a call to reflect, rebel, and strive for an illuminated future.
