DO YOU HAVE TO WEAR YOUR OWN CLOTHING BRAND

Came across this clip of Tremaine explaining why he doesn’t wear his brand and thought this was the perfect conversation for the community.
If you ask me, the short answer is yes, 9/10 you should. let me explain
Most people who start brands are in it creating clothes they’d like / wear. they’re their own target audience so it fits right into their style, it’s not alien. then the obvious is you’re a walking billboard. you’re your brand. you’re representing it 24/7 so your presence should scream your clothing brand whenever people see you. really and truly, your brand should be promoted tirelessly everyday. but that’s a convo for another day.
The thing is the question isn’t as simple as that because it can also depend on why you’re in fashion. a lot of “designers” are in fashion for the business, they’re businessmen (not to be confused with those in it for cash grab) so they’re catering to a need, a demand, a specific taste that a group of people have. now this is completely ok in my opinion but brand owners who are in fashion because it’s their passion and those who are in it for the business are different things and should be held to a different standard.
I don’t disagree with anything they’re saying, I just find the contrast very interesting. when you look at brand owners especially someone like Clint, there’s never a day he’s seen not wearing his brand.
It all comes down to who you are and what your purpose in fashion is. why and who you do it for dictates the answer.

Even outside fashion, this idea applies: You are your brand. At Eco Junk Haulers, we live what we promote — clean, reliable, and eco-conscious. Whether it’s wearing your logo or living by your values, your brand should show up in everything you do. That’s why when we do junk removal in Sherwood Park, our service speaks for itself — just like a great outfit does.
Couldn’t agree more. If you're building a clothing brand, you are the brand. At Royal Thread, every design starts from what we’d proudly wear ourselves — especially our printed T-shirts for boys in Pakistan. We believe if you’re not repping your own brand, it’s hard to expect others to do it for you. Be your own ambassador. Wear it. Own it. Grow it.
