AURA FARMING IS STUNTING YOUR CREATIVE JOURNEY

Title is nuts but hear me out, you may need to hear this...

I’ve had a lot of conversations in the past weeks surrounding how people often put their image, particularly their social image, over getting themselves into positions to further their creative careers.

A lot of people feel certain things they do or say may come off as cringy, embarrassing or as “doing too much” but the reality is, thats part of the journey. when you zoom out and take a look at it from the grand scheme of things, you’re letting the opinion of others stunt your growth, you are trying to maintain an image of yourself for approval as opposed to putting yourself in a better position than you are now. Most of the time, people won’t even care or forget about what you’ve done.

A lot of people starting out really downplay their crafts and don’t put themselves out there enough. don’t get me started on the people who do the whole nonchalant/mysterious gimmick, thats the biggest self-nerf when you’re in your primary years trying to make it out.

9/10 you’re not putting yourself out there enough and you’re not promoting yourself enough. take it from me, it’s been one of my key lessons learnt releasing our magazine. you may think you’ve done all you can to push products or promote yourself and there are still people who won’t know about you or something you may have released.

Be yourself, be authentic, promote yourself shamelessly, put yourself out there and in positions to elevate further. share that post, send that DM, put that story post, write that comment.

Whatever you’re holding back on, forget the ego, forget maintaining an image, forget feeling you’re getting on people’s nerves because while you’re worried about maintaining an aura, your counterparts are out in the field making things happen.

The pain of missing out on better is greater than the pain of people’s opinions of you.
